I don’t understand, you placed the two ends at the very end and pinned together and sewed, so how do you come up with a border on all four sides when done? The only thing I do differently when backing a quilt with minky instead of regular cotton is to make sure I cut wide enough strips (2.5″ usually) and test to make sure there is enough binding to fully cover the initial stitch line. binding a quilt with minky, you will want to have a thicker binding than you would with a cotton binding because of the extra bulk.
